This site is a tribute to Leslie Hayes who died on 18th June in the Margaret Centre at Whipps Cross Hospital, aged 90.
He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and had the respect of all who knew him.
Les enjoyed the company of family and friends and liked to visit local restaurants with them. He watched sport on television and had been a Leyton Orient F.C. supporter from childhood, attending every home game until recently.
Les's other great interest was jazz, and he amassed a large collection of vinyl discs and CDs. He was also highly knowledgeable about art, history and books, and he was a skilled completer of difficult cryptic crossword puzzles; he won the Saturday crossword competition in the Guardian newspaper twenty-five times.
A donation to the Prostrate Cancer charity in Les' memory rather than flower tributes would be appreciated by his family.
Leslie Hayes will be lovingly remembered by us all.
You are missed and will always be in our thoughts. With love
